RISE AS A LABOUR LEADER

His career began at the Arewa Textiles Company in Kaduna, where he quickly became known as a strong voice for workers. In 1982, he was appointed General Secretary of the National Union of Textile, Garment and Tailoring Workers of Nigeria, representing thousands of workers across the sector. His leadership grew in scope and impact, culminating in his election as President of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) in 1999.
