Bolatito Rachel Olorunrinu Oduala, widely known as Rinu Oduala and on social media as Savvy Rinu, was born on November 1, 1998 in Lagos State Nigeria. These realities shaped her early interest in society, justice, and the power of collective voice.
Raised in a close-knit family that encouraged curiosity and bold thinking, Rinu developed a deep awareness of civic issues early in life. Her upbringing in Lagos exposed her to diverse people and ideas, instilling in her a sense of responsibility to speak up for fairness and inclusion.

Her academic background provided her with analytical skills, discipline, and a foundation for critical thinking. These tools would later support her activism and communication work. While her academic path was rooted in science, Rinu’s passion steered her toward the intersections of communication, civic engagement, and social impact.
From Social Media to Strategic Activism
Rinu built an early following through digital platforms where she used social media to amplify youth voices around civic issues. She recognized that the internet could highlight stories that traditional channels often ignored, creating space for underrepresented perspectives.
She established Savvy Reach, a media strategy initiative focused on public communication and digital engagement. Through this work, she honed her ability to shape narratives and support causes with clarity and reach.
Leadership in Connect Hub Nigeria (HubNGR)
Rinu serves as Project Director at Connect Hub Nigeria, also known as HubNGR. This organization focuses on documenting and responding to police violence and state abuses while connecting communities with resources and support. Under her leadership, the Hub has championed transparency and human rights documentation, especially in times of national tension.
Through Connect Hub Nigeria, Rinu has worked with volunteers, technologists, and community partners to build systems that help ordinary citizens tell their stories and access justice related support. Her approach emphasizes dignity, evidence based advocacy, and collective empowerment.
EndSARS Movement and National Recognition
In October 2020, Rinu’s voice became national and international in prominence during the #EndSARS movement, a youth led protest calling for the end of the Special Anti Robbery Squad in Nigeria due to widespread allegations of brutality. Rinu used her platforms to share updates, coordinate discussions, and advocate for peaceful accountability.
In response to the nationwide protests, the Lagos State government established a Judicial Panel of Inquiry on Police Brutality and Related Matters. Rinu was appointed a youth representative on this panel where she worked to ensure that citizens’ experiences were heard and addressed. In early 2021 she publicly withdrew from the panel citing concerns about how justice processes were unfolding, demonstrating her commitment to accountability over position.
Her role in the EndSARS movement positioned her among a new generation of civic leaders reshaping how young people engage with governance and accountability.
